Grinding
Geissler GmbH is equipped with six state-of-the-art centreless grinding plants for dimensions ranging from 15 to 170 mm, round, and lengths of up to 14 metres. Both polish-grinding machines and variable-speed grinding machines are available. All plants are equipped with secondary super-finish features and designed for the particular requirements for manufacturing preliminary material for piston rod production and hard-chrome plating. Depending on the range of dimensions and tolerance requirements, the rough-turned bright steel aligned for grinding is rough-ground two to six times and then finish-ground to the specified tolerance. Dimensions are subject to ongoing monitoring by optical measuring systems. During the finish-grinding process, the results communicated are automatically compared with the specifications and if the results deviate from the target values, the material cannot be approved. Additionally, concentricity is examined by means of 3-point measuring. All results are documented and remain available for inspection for several years.
